Some low-res mobile phone pics of Perth

Last night Jessica and I went down to Cottesloe Beach to make a farewell toast to Hermione. The beach was a golen colour, and we drank a cocktail each at La Tropicana as the sun set. This pic was of the view from where we sat.

I also took this pic when walking to the bus station after work. In the late 80s boom virtually an entire city block was demolished in order to build three large (phallic shaped) office buildings. One was built and then the boom-bubble burst, leaving the project unfinished and this massive gaping hole in the middle of the city. That was 1987 (or maybe '88 or '89). For the last 15 years this hole has gradually returned to its pre-city past, and native reeds and plants have returned to inhabit it. It is now a swamp, with a post-apocalyptic look about it. This part of the city was built on reclaimed land on the banks of the Swan River. I think it's kinda cool to have this in the middle of our modern city. I have this recurring idea that it'd be great to have a concert in there, with a band and/or dj set up on that platform..
