I am the next Baron Von Helfenstein! Bow down before me, all ye peasants!

I officially would like to marry a wealthy heiress, so as I can live without having to work. That way I will be able to spend my days travelling and making art house films, stopping every now and then to have cocktails at the nearest port with some of my entourage. We will enter discussion with the world's leaders and I will use my wealth to benevolently fund needy NGOs.

So, who's up for it? It'll be fun!
..not wanting to sound really snotty, but.. I really am related to aristocracy (isn't everyone, somewhere down the gene lines?). One of my distant relatives was the Baron Von Helfenstein of Wurttemburg. Unfortunately he died 500 years ago (he was reportedly a nasty-pasty feudal aristocrat controlling a decent portion of South-western Germany)and since then the wealth has not trickled down to myself, but hey, what a claim to fame! I should go and claim that I am heir to one of the castles near Ulm, yeah, I'll do it! ..I'm sure they'll hand it to me when the German Government realises that it's my birthright.

.. enough of my self indulgent rambles.. time to get back to this report I have to write before 5pm at work..

Print this out and put it on your wall!

Very exciting entry today!

eeeergh. I was at a council meeting in Guildford last night to represent my company's opposition to the BGC brickworks that is planned to be constructed next to the Perth Airport. I was there until 10pm! Then I was off to bed, and then back to work. What a fun night. This will go down as a night to remember in the exciting times of my life.

Summer will be here soon

Here's Lesley the Birthday girl, at the rather drunken stage of her party! She hired an 8 seater spa for the night, and all her friends from out in the country came and pretty much all jumped in the spa. It was great, I'll get pics for that off other people - I was in there so I didn't take any pics!

As soon as I dried off, I had to put on the monkey suit and head to Jeffo's for his party at Casa de Brown

Big Saturday night

Here's some pics from Saturday night. It started at Les' 21st, and then moved to Jeff's house (cocktail was the theme), where the man set up over $500 worth of lights! Jeff is definately THE man!

Yes that is Absinth.. truly el-yukko. I was feeling like a cold was coming on, so I thought "Hefty alcohol with wormwood will clear my head!". For some strange reason, a coupla shots of absinth later and my head was feeling mighty strange.. drinking the stuff that inspired good ol' Toulouse Lautrec and Van Gogh!

..and for some unexpected reason, it didn't make me feel better! Golly gosh, I dunno why that happened!

Swedes, trains and UFOs

Probably my only Anne Geddes-ish pic ever taken - of kids on a beach in Asa in Sweden. This pic finally gets me back into writing mode. Lots had happened by the time I had arrived in Asa, and by the time I ended up here in my travels, I had been on a fear and loating-styled adventure that had taken me from Greece (see earlier entries), through to Oslo, Bergen, Alesund, Bodo, Trondheim, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and then back to Goteborg and to Asa. I ended up here as this is where Anette's Dad's holiday home was.
My funky god-daughter Cydne was about 8 at the time, and was the only white haired kid I knew. So I sent her this pic so she could see there are others who also have seriously blonde/white hair. She thought it was pretty cool, as her Dad is a northern European guy so she's got the Nordic and generally Teutonic look.

The same night I took this pic, Anette and I lay on this same beach and looked up at the sky. For the first and only time in my life, I saw something that no one has ever been able to explain to me. As we lay there chatting, looking up at the sky, a bright light (about 5 times brighter than the brightest star in the sky) started to move away from where it had been still moments before. It hovered, moved left, moved right and then up and down, all in a general left moving arc, before it progressively got dimmer and travelled southwards, and upwards into the sky, before it finally disappeared. Anette and I just sat there wondering what it could have been. And then, it happened three more times, each time the path slightly different to the previous one, but all travelling in the same direction.
Whatever it was jumped around the sky, and it was mind boggling. What was it? What was it doing? Was it ball lightning or a weather balloon with a bright white light on it? I doubt it. We told her Dad about it, he shrugged his shoulders and found it all funny as if we were high.
To this day I have no idea what those four travelling lights were.. I'm happy to be told they aren't a UFO or something spooky, but until it can be explained to me what they were, I will be wondering..

The nerdy side of mrlederhosen reared its head on the weekend, and led to the purchase of lots of books and dvds at a bargain sale. It was terrible, there were piles of things everywhere, and before long I had bored my friends and ended up with heaps of stuff! My bag included the following:

-dj shadow live in 2001 (dvd and cd)
-down from the mountain (a live dvd recording of a live performance of the music from O Brother Where Art Thou?)
-portishead short films and live in NY dvd
-a $2.99 1950s sci-fi film that I've already forgotten the title of
-a big book of East German memorabilia (yes here comes the inner nerd..)
-a book about Paraguay (I mean who really knows anything about Paraguay!)
-a Stalin biography by Martin Amis
-Angela Anaconda fridge magnets
.. and a few other random things.

I also ended up with a large pile of Steve Reich albums, that man is the best composer ever!
Some of the new music I've gathered:

Sam Prekop - Who's Your New Professor?
Proem - Darker Still
000 - Upon Cycles (thanks to the SUPER EMMA for that gift! - You're tops, I will phone you ASAP!)
and loads of Indonesian Gamelan.
